Daniel Grindeland

Daniel started his Breaking career in 2005. He is a member of Absence Crew and does freelance work worldwide. Daniel’s artistic expression is based on dance, acrobatics, explosiveness, and storytelling, with the aim of sharing his art and spreading joy to people of all ages.

 

Throughout his career, Daniel has collaborated with prominent institutions such as Nordland Theater, Den Nationale Scene, Riksteateret, Bergen International Festival, House of Dance and Chateau Neuf. Additionally, he has toured Europe and delivered over 1000 performances as part of The Cultural Schoolbag.
 

Daniel has won several competitions and awards for his involvement in dance both commercially and artistically. He has won multiple Norwegian Championships, achieved numerous international titles, among them winning Raw Circles Europe, getting an impressive 12th place in the World Championships in 2022 and 4th place in the European Championships 2022. In addition, Daniel has been nominated for “Dancer of the Year” by the Norwegian Dance Federation in 2018 and 2019 and earned the “Dancer of the Year” award in 2022. Furthermore, he secured a 2nd place in “Norway’s Got Talent” in 2014 and won the hip hop version of “Dancing with the Stars” on TV2 alongside Absence and Fingern.

 

Today, Daniel is fully committed to Breaking, which will be a featured sport in the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024 for the first time.

 

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Daniel possesses valuable experience in administrative roles such as directing, producing, choreography, project coordinator, budgeting and marketing. He is passionate about spreading the dance and has held workshops throughout his entire career. Notably, he has conducted workshops at the National Theatre in Kabul, Afghanistan, as well as for non-profit organizations in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.

 

While Daniel is based in Oslo, his work takes him across the globe, where he continues to captivate audiences and inspire dancers with his unique performance.
